Charlie Day from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia would spray paint in a bag and huff it before composing brilliant pieces such as The Nightman Cometh.

And Mad Max, those bald dudes did similar shit.

Man this new meth/fent shit era is sad. I grew up in the crack era and this shit is 10 times worse. The meth is fucking ruining peoples fucking brains bad.

405

u/Wazy7781 Dec 03 '22 edited Dec 03 '22

Yeah I fucking hate meth. Shit makes people stay up for days on end and then they go into a sort of sleep deprived psychosis until they’re done their bender. It’s fucked. It’s made a lot of places where I live kind of dangerous. There will be a bunch of meth heads who’ve clearly been up for weeks talking to people who aren’t there, fighting people who aren’t there, and being extremely hostile to everyone. Which means that they’re fairly likely to attack you. Which can be pretty bad because even though most of them are skinny and normally wouldn’t pose much of a threat they are far stronger due to being on meth. For some reason meth just amplifies a persons ability to both take and give a beating. Your odds of winning a fight against a meth head are a lot worse than you might think.

210

u/Not_invented-Here Dec 03 '22 edited Dec 03 '22

I grew up in the rave generation and was hitting the clubs plenty between late 80's and early 2000's, did opium in Laos, tried a few non traditional drugs etc. So I've seen a fair few people off their heads and done a fair bit of it myself. I am used to seeing people who have been on a good bender, had a few turn up at my house in the wee hrs etc.

A few years ago some girl I know turned up shoeless and in a complete state at my house, I didn't even recognise they had taken drugs I thought they were having some sort of mental breakdown. Turns out someone had given them meth and they were on about day two or three of not sleeping.

It definitely went on my list of shit I don't want to try.

115

u/triggerhappytranny Dec 03 '22

It only takes about 2 days without sleeping to start going crazy. I've done meth a handful of times and it's just not my thing, it's not relaxing, it doesn't make you feel happy, you can be productive but also not really, it makes you look like shit, you can't have normal conversations or interactions with people. Everything about it is horrible in my opinion except for that initial rush you get.

43

u/Not_invented-Here Dec 03 '22

Yeah it looked no fun, either if you do speed or LSD and other things I find you get to a bit were you are like I have had enough and would like bed now. Being wired and that's all you are without any euphoria seems just awful.

28

u/triggerhappytranny Dec 03 '22

There is euphoria I guess, for some people. It just made me paranoid though, I like a drug where I can chill out. You can't just chill out and smoke meth.

13

u/Not_invented-Here Dec 03 '22 edited Dec 03 '22

The initial rush, I mean I get that bit. What sounds like the two/ three day comedown though when you are just AFAIK wired is the bit I think sounds awful.

3

u/Charming_Mirror_7391 Dec 05 '22

Wired and paranoid and can’t go to sleep. It’s awful. Done it a handful of times and it’s just not worth it.

10

u/aboutaction Dec 03 '22

You might have been doing a levomethamphetamine dominant racemic crystal with N-isopropylbenzylamine used as a cutting agent. From what Ive heard cut levo will cause anxiety and Stereotypy (punding, useless repetitive tasks and task switching) onset a lot faster than if its mostly pure levo

u/WarWolfRage Dec 17 '22

Maybe this is a question for anyone that has long term experience with these drugs, but... Have you ever heard of old hippies that did speed having specific types of neurological issues down the line? Asking to help understand a friend lol. This has been wracking my brain, cause there's something off with them, but it's hard to say how it happened.

16

u/ForwardTomorrow1482 Dec 03 '22

Grew up around druggy hippies, a lot of them have unexplained seizures in their old age. Shit just kills brain cells and makes you stupid. Like dementia, you know stuff used to be in their brain, it’s just not there anymore. You can tell you’re talking to someone who used to be intelligent, but they’re missing a few pieces now.

13

u/aboutaction Dec 03 '22

LSD and psilocybin are bad bitches. If you abuse them they will abuse you back. I haven't played GTA once since I played it tripping.

15

Too much acid will fuck you up. I'm sure speed could also create neurological issues but acid 100% will fry your brain if you do it too much too often.

Not just that, but it amplifies all insecurities and distorts them as well for me.

16

u/Humdngr Dec 03 '22

I had a bad E pill I had bought at a rave back in the late 2000s. I was up for almost 2 days and it was horrible. Massive anxiety. I just wanted to go to sleep. No doubt it was some sort of shit speed ball or something.

15

u/dankincense Dec 03 '22

I did meth back in the day for a couple years. It was very calming and allowed me to focus and get shit done. I was a very attention deficit child and carried that into adulthood. Eventually I was able to quit over a long time. No idea if I did any long term damage, but we shall see.

9

u/triggerhappytranny Dec 03 '22

Yea, it seems to have the opposite effect on people who are already very hyper. I'm naturally very chill so being amped up like that is extremely uncomfortable

and then there is aimo koivunen, a finnish patrolman from wwii who got separated from his patrol and went on a rampage terrorizing the russians he encountered. I quote:

"Koivunen was a Finnish soldier, assigned to a ski patrol on 20 April 1944, along with several other Finnish soldiers. Three days into their mission, on 18 March, the group was attacked and surrounded by Soviet forces, from whom they managed to escape.[2] Koivunen became fatigued after skiing for a long distance, but could not stop. He was also the sole carrier of army-issued Pervitin, or methamphetamine, a stimulant used to remain awake while on duty.[3] He took them all and had a short burst of energy, but then entered into a state of delirium, and lost consciousness. Koivunen remembered waking up the following morning, separated from his patrol and having no supplies.[4] In the following days, he escaped Soviet forces once again, was injured by a land mine which also set fire to a nearby Russian camp, and lay in a ditch for a week waiting for help.[4] Having skied more than 400 km (248.5 mi) he was found and admitted to a nearby hospital, where his heart rate was measured at 200 beats per minute, triple the average human heartbeat,[5] and weighing only 43 kg (94.8 lbs).[4] In the week Koivunen was gone, he subsisted only on pine buds and a single Siberian jay that he caught and ate raw. He ended up surviving and died peacefully at the age of 71.[4]"

I had a three day party at my house a few years ago, I was up for three days (not on meth) day three I was seeing clear bubble letters and numbers scrolling down my mini blinds, only on the blinds not on the walls it was weird af so I decided it was time to go to sleep. I think it was because of the lights on my patio and outside my house coming through the blinds. I’ve only had real hallucinations, like seeing things that weren’t real, from lack of sleep and hitting whip it’s on molly id imagine being up for 4 days on meth would not be fun at all im glad I’ve never tried it

2

u/NoTime4LuvDrJones Dec 03 '22

I also saw some weird shit doing nitrous while on molly. My entire vision turned from seeing normal into seeing everything as if it was watching a cartoon. Just saw bright colors, especially yellow, as if watching the Simpson’s. And with everything was in small square boxes, like some old graphics. And on top of that shit got wavy. Thankfully it only lasted a minute. Tried another nitrous hit to see if it was a one time thing because previous hits were fine, and same crazy visuals came back. No more nitrous that day after that weird shit, too wild for me

12

u/aboutaction Dec 03 '22

Funny you should say that, "old Meth" i.e. pre psuedo ban would cause people to stay up for days on end, and that would eventually lead to psychosis because of lack of sleep primarily and then dopamine deficit. NOW the meth is more levomethamphetamine (think breaking bad when they started stealing barrels) and although it doesn't cause that lack of sleep paralysis, it's neurotoxicity is higher than it's stereoisomer dextro and people are more willing to isolate (tent cities) and if they do seek treatment its a lot harder because the basis of behavioral health therapy is communication and these people can literally forget how to talk al together. The types of behavior you are seeing is likely exacerbated by whatever cut the Mexicans/dark web cooks are using. People for a while have been assuming that a large crystal equals purity but in reality, the cooks know this and so they use cuts that will produce larger crystals.

I didn’t really realize the impact this stuff was having until I went to another country recently that didn’t have drugs. It was a full-on 3rd world country w severe poverty in places (like whole families sleeping in shacks tin roofs and fishing in rivers covered in plastic and styrofoam) and there still like almost zero homelessness, no-one walking around unintelligibly - blabbering to themselves, tweaking, spacing - and hardly any crime. I really felt safer walking around solo as an obvious westerner (and prob 1 in 10,000) w a blatantly obvious wealth gap (just having shoes and clean clothes even) than I did back home in places where hard drug use is common. That’s not to say all 3rd world countries are like that AT ALL - but this one pretty clearly did not have drug use (never saw a single pipe or needle - and really not even that much drinking comparatively) and the atmosphere was just different. That unpredictability and psychotic behavior just didn’t seem to exist. It was more like “we’re all dirt poor and we all know nothings going to change that for us so what good would robbing someone do in the long term” whereas back home the stimulus of “I need a fix right now” could drive otherwise normal people to make the decision to rob or kill you for just a temporary, fleeting moment of relief before coming back down again. It was really crazy to see - and honestly changed my perception on drugs a little bit…

13

u/e30Devil Dec 03 '22

I mean, I certainly understand the desire to be compassionate toward the unhoused. I am certainly not one of those people, but I understand why people feel that way.

AND I AM ABSOLUTELY DONE WITH DEALING WITH THESE PEOPLE DAILY. They really are not my problem. They shouldn’t be my problem. They really shouldn’t be my city, state, or countries problem. But I do expect my city, state, and country to DO SOMETHING so that the rest of us producing GDP and tax revenue keep doing it.

I barely feel safe driving with the insane people out there now.

The issue is that rehab isn’t necessarily cheap, and most importantly, it requires a commitment from the person who is in there. They have to want to quit. It’s a waste of money to send people through the revolving door when they don’t want help.

Yes, there absolutely should be something done, but what?

The only thing I can think of is access to affordable, good mental healthcare. Early in life. Care that teaches actual skills, not talking until you are blue in the face.

Most people using drugs to the point of addiction aren’t doing it for fun, almost always it’s based on trauma. If the trauma can be treated right away, the likelihood for addiction and the downward spiral it contains is less.

11

Addicts can be some of the most kind hearted sensitive, creative minded, and extremely gifted individuals(like musicians, artists and creatorsof sorts) that sensitivity of the world around effects some ppl differently vs rational analytical left side of the brain thinkers. After goimg to a lot of meetings, trying different routes of recovery programs and networking I noticed Ppl in recovery can be so selfless and go above and beyond to help another persons battle. Yes in active addiction ppl can do some pretty awful thinking while numbed on substance but that's not who 99% of them are to the core. I hope you and your sister find the peace you bkth deserve, hang in there it will be worth it love💛

34

u/Agile-Masterpiece959 Dec 03 '22

I'm a recovering meth addict (3 years!) and I remember the look on my mom's face when she finally realized how deep into the shit I was. She's from Taiwan and has never done drugs in her life, so early on in my addiction, she didn't really know what was going on. Then I was estranged from her for a few years and started doing it intravenously. The next time she saw me and asked what was wrong with me, why my face looked like it did, and why I had scabs all over, I straight up told her that I was shooting meth. The look on her face haunts me to this day. It was a look of complete dismay. It wasn't long after that that I got clean. Never looking back!

12

u/Dejabluex Dec 03 '22

Congrats on getting clean and recovering! Can I ask how long you were addicted for? (Sorry if it’s too personal.) My sister has been a meth/alcohol addict for years now. She’s lost custody of her kids and just keeps finding ways back to drugs no matter what we try to do to help her. She’s going to rehab (again) in a few days but it just seems to give her more connections if anything. She’s such a sweetheart underneath all this, I miss her 😞

Sorry for the TLDR; haven’t really spoken about this to anyone so it fell out.

3

u/MildlyAgreeable Dec 03 '22

I’m wishing you, your sister, and your family all the very best x

3

u/Dejabluex Dec 03 '22

Thank you so much 😊

3

u/Agile-Masterpiece959 Dec 04 '22

Well, I'm 35 now and my first addiction was opiate pain pills from age 13-24, had a couple years clean, then started doing meth at 26 (I know, stupid AF!). I also lost custody of my two older kids, but I'm lucky that I'm still able to see them and have been slowly rebuilding our relationships. I went to rehab four separate times for meth addiction and it really didn't help me, but I know it does help some people. It just comes down to really wanting to be done with it. I wish the best for you and your sister. Addiction really is a family illness, it doesn't just affect the addict.

2

u/Dejabluex Dec 04 '22

Thanks so much for sharing your story. It gives me hope. She’s been addicted for the better part of 10 years now, but even losing her kids hasn’t motivated her to get better. I just hope this facility she’s going to will set her even in a slightly better direction. Well done on coming so far, it sounds like you’ve done an amazing job.

70

u/JakeFromStateFromm Dec 03 '22

I'd wager a lot of people end up like this by having parents who don't care if they end up like this

25

u/tylerb1130 Dec 03 '22

Shit me too, id literally just crumble and die. This person is quite far gone. I hope she gets some help or find peace in this life. Sadly I think it will be the latter. Ya I don’t wanna think about that anymore.

14

u/uselessbynature Dec 03 '22

Makes me sad too. I see my kids like they have an invisible piggy bank on their back and it holds (what I call) karma money. Cuz it started out that way but now it's evolved into something else.

Every time I comfort the kids, praise them, guide them or teach them in a meaningful way I deposit to the karma bank. Every time I yell at them (angrily, unfairly), act inconsistent or allow them hurt (through my direct or negligent actions) I metaphorically turn the kids upside down and shake them and some money comes out of the karma bank. Maybe a little maybe a lot. I don't usually get to control that but a single withdrawal is usually more than a deposit :/

As they grow the karma bank surrounds them and protects them a little. So if it's fatter-it's not perfect like an invisible shield more like a bullet proof vest-they have some protection as things like addiction and dangerous habits or relationships whiz past them and maybe even hit them.

u/dirkdigglee Dec 03 '22

Man - that’s a mess. Kid behind the counter seemed to be trying to help her out, treat her with some respect - but dang, so sad. Cool pillowcase head wrap though.

90

u/bigFatHelga Dec 03 '22

"Treat her with some respect"

While filming her to put online.

30

u/n-crispy7 Dec 03 '22

She also could have been about to do something fucking crazy to be fair

17

u/citizen_dawg Dec 03 '22

And how does that relate to putting the video online?

6

u/NoirVII Dec 03 '22

You're here to watch the videos like the rest of us.

Looks like she has a broken nose. Poor soul.

10

u/ThaUniversal Dec 03 '22

Is her makeup spray paint?

10

u/lsdiesel_1 Dec 03 '22

It’s like the milk mustache of huffing paint

22

u/mathyoudylan Dec 03 '22

“Get whatever you want”. Nice

8

u/Alirue Dec 03 '22

She reminds me of someone I knew. Last i knew, she was in Philly. The tattoo even looks similar

8

u/Maxter_Blaster_ Dec 03 '22

Just imagine the chaos and hell this poor soul has been through. I understand there’s some accountability that is needed here, but I feel really sorry for her. She needs help in the worst way.

9

u/mickeyperry Dec 03 '22

Who do you call for this person? I see shit like this in Austin a lot and I never know what to do. I usually let the person use my phone and give them a water bottle. One guy said I was a cunt for trying to help. We have serious problems here.

People see this and laugh at it, but the reality is really sad

Everyone showcased on this sub are seriously down on their luck and through whatever problems in their life found drugs as a way to cope

It's nice to see some people share this viewpoint, though.

I think a lot of people who berate addicts have never experienced addiction or straight up don't care about other people

6

u/Training-Ad3350 Dec 03 '22

How long has she had that shirt?

8

u/DetN8 Dec 03 '22

Since she got kicked out of her house probably. We need a better social safety net.

22

u/rccpudge Dec 03 '22

Isn’t that paint? Has she been huffing?

11

u/dizzasterdave Dec 03 '22

That was my guess

5

u/ObjectiveChain6893 Dec 03 '22

just heartbreaking seeing someone in this condition.

6

u/wisperingdeth Dec 03 '22

I want to watch the rest.

6

u/phrostbyt Dec 03 '22

Addicts can and do recover. She needs a willingness and recovery resources. It's a difficult road and many don't succeed, but she's still young and she is still alive. It's not hopeless

6

u/Beaudaci0us Dec 03 '22

Does she have a child's shirt on or is it a gift from a child?

Either way, the sad part is it says something about how she got it from someone who loves her very much.

I used to be a meth addict. Generally did a 10 day bender with a two day sleep inbetween, enough time to sell more items to buy some for the next round. I was very sick. Living alone, covered in sores. Very disturbed mentally

5

u/Plus-Cow-1916 Dec 30 '22

The clerk seems like a really wholesome dude. A lot of broken people out there and they still deserve respect.

3

u/Imispellalot Dec 03 '22

This made me sad. I hope she can get some help

5

u/KGCUT Dec 03 '22

This is actually really sad.

4

6

u/Yomynamesn8 Dec 03 '22

Recording her was kinda shitty but props to him for not being a dick head

10

u/Burton686 Dec 03 '22

The clerk may have been anticipating some unpredictable behavior and wanted a record of what may happen. He handled it very well.

Idk I know she's gotten into a ton of bad shit, but she's still paying for stuff and talking to people, makes me think she had one too many bad cards dealt to her :/

People are so damn unkind. She's polite, not causing problems.. Why even post this online?

32

u/lsdiesel_1 Dec 03 '22

Because she took too much, and this sub is literally called tooktoomuch

When you click the link to tooktoomuch, you are going to see videos of people who took too much

So if you don’t want to see videos of people who took too much, don’t click on the link to tooktoomuch

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '22

Hard truth the /r/tooktoomuch cunts don’t want to hear:

They feel better about themselves. Same reason you see videos of people freaking out in a plane. It’s for the views. They’ll say shit like “ohhh durrrrr gee wiz it’s for my protection.” But I’ll never believe that. People want this shit for their no doubt boring social media page. I’m sure this checks notes gas station attendant….didn’t have a very peppy social media page. This helps him out

6

u/oreo760 Dec 03 '22

Sounds like Jonah Hill in Superbad

2

u/n-crispy7 Dec 03 '22

Holy fuck

4

u/area_51_RMAK Dec 03 '22

Shit I feel bad for her, cashier handled it respectfully.

4

That dude behind the counter is really cool

4

u/Anatella3696 Dec 03 '22

Oh my god this is so fucking sad. That woman has been through some shit. You can see it. God this is hard to watch. Why would they post this?

2

u/professorpuddle Dec 03 '22

Is that makeup on her face? Why is it around her mouth like that?

5

u/LilStabbyboo Dec 03 '22

Because she tried her best but isn't sober enough to maintain?

2

u/besogone Dec 03 '22

6

u/nughtyskye Dec 03 '22

This is heartbreaking, she’s clearly hit rock bottom and the fact she waits to be invited in and is so polite clearly shows she is a decent human under all that drug abuse and probably a hell of a lot of pain, I hope she finds help

2

u/punkacidtrip Dec 03 '22
