It's an actual air vent, it's an anti-grenade air vent. Shaped so nothing can be thrown down the hole.

62

u/Chief_chirpa587 Dec 03 '22

Or very simple: )-

29

u/MiaowaraShiro Dec 03 '22

That's very concise.

8

u/kryptosthedj Dec 04 '22

We used these ]~ in the meme wars

14

u/terminalxposure Dec 03 '22

That protrusion (e) into the vent is bothering me...surely you could pull it out of the vent pipe a bit to keep the width uniform?

21

u/efficientseas Dec 03 '22

I think the protrusion acts as a shield deflecting any objects that might be thrown in at just the right angle.

8

u/soolkyut Dec 04 '22

That’s not a protrusion, that angled line is the mitre of the pipe in the background (see other elbows)

3

u/soolkyut Dec 04 '22

That’s not a protrusion, that angled line is the mitre of the pipe in the background (see other elbows)

2

u/TheFlyingBeltBuckle Dec 03 '22

E looks like it's just the length of that pipe. Referencing from the centerline makes sense

u/YardFew308 Dec 04 '22

Simple but quality engineering! Thanks for sharing

And the other 20 times with the exact same title

25

u/BarfingOnYourFace Dec 03 '22

Actually, I just remembered it this time, so maybe now it will stick in my brain the next time someone posts this again!

25

u/xtrememudder89 Dec 03 '22

This is the first time I'm seeing it. Guess I'm one of the lucky 10000.

7

u/HappyPappy247 Dec 03 '22

I'm right there with ya.

4

u/Rolling_on_the_river Dec 03 '22

You're not supposed to know about the lucky 10000 when you're one of the lucky 10000!

2

u/brainburger Dec 04 '22

What about when you read about the lucky 10,000 for the first time?

-14

u/futurespacecadet Dec 03 '22

oh no, things posted on the internet twice, whatever will we do

21

u/corn_sugar_isotope Dec 03 '22

continue to have to correct the misinformation of it?

-16

u/Malumeze86 Dec 03 '22

Cry and complain about it.

That's the most popular way to deal with it.

14

u/StenSoft Dec 03 '22

You can actually throw a grenade into it from the inside and it will fall out outside as well

6

u/GolgiApparatus1 Dec 03 '22

Man that's clever

161

u/BonusCommentary Dec 03 '22

Just looked at a rough schematic of how these were designed. The air flow is still up that pipe but it’s a designed in a way that returns objects. Some of the bunkers even had a grenade chute to roll them out from inside.

28

u/wowzacowza Dec 04 '22

It's amazing how much time humans devote to murdering other humans and not being murdered by other humans

7

u/BonusCommentary Dec 04 '22

Most dangerous game.

1

u/Proffessor_egghead Dec 24 '22

Don’t forget about the rich wanting more rich

670

u/greenknight884 Dec 03 '22

If you stick a rifle in there it comes out the other end tied into a bow

140

u/Binky-Answer896 Dec 03 '22

It’s an Acme air vent.

I want to upvote you but you’re at 69 and the law states I must leave it at that and say nice

Edit: they’re past 69 now so I can upvote

54

u/VehicleFun1117 Dec 03 '22

Reddit hivemind tells me downvote. I must downvote

12

u/GammaDealer Dec 04 '22

This is how we learn our lesson.

-2

u/LF_redit Dec 04 '22

Apparently the law changed while I wasn’t looking

4

u/Darth_Thor Dec 04 '22

I don’t know if it’s changed or if it just applies to meme subs rather than discussion threads

3

u/DarkModeNotLight Dec 04 '22

Redditor trying not to be a cringe Npc challenge (fail)

349

u/Responsible-Resort57 Dec 03 '22

Idea Straight out of a bugs bunny cartoon

64

u/smechanic Dec 03 '22

“I guess I die now.”

43

u/CeeArthur Dec 03 '22

First you need to look directly at the camera and then hold up a small sign that says "Yikes"

13

u/Fun-Transition1230 Dec 03 '22

Thats Elmer Fudd dropping the grenade in bugs bunny's hole.

171

u/youderkB Dec 03 '22

I think it's not a fake vent, it has just some security measures added to it

1

u/asian_identifier Dec 03 '22

Do you can still gas it or flamethrower it?

2

u/TrainedMusician Dec 03 '22

If you seal both ends, maybe. Although a flamethrower won't work due to the structure which looks like this. So smoke can enter, but objects will simply slide down

}-

1

u/misterfluffykitty Dec 04 '22

No. Long story short only one vent is for intake, it’s filtered, and there is enough pressure to push air (and gas) out of the building through all the other ones, and some were just straight up fake.

-1

u/inactiveuser247 Dec 03 '22

If you stuck a flamethrower in it you’d end up roasting your legs, but it would also make a mess of the folks inside.

45

u/-castle-bravo- Dec 03 '22

I wonder how many kills that got..

27

u/ChungLingS00 Dec 03 '22

My last thoughts would have been: "Hey, that's pretty fuckin' clev..."

10

u/VeryBottist Dec 03 '22

Mine would’ve been « bruh »

RIGHT BACK AT YOU, BUCKAROO...

41

u/22Sharpe Dec 03 '22

The last time this one was posted someone explained how it worked in as simple a way as possible. Was something along these lines:

)—

Basically air can still get in because it’ll travel along the horizontal but anything thrown in will just slide right out the bottom.

6

u/Unlucky-Pomegranate3 Dec 03 '22

Still an air vent, you’re just the one getting ventilated.

u/JohnnyTight_Lips Dec 03 '22

5

u/sparant76 Dec 03 '22

Maybe it isn’t fake. Maybe there is a branch in the tube that takes air inside, while leaving another branch dominated by gravity that returns grenades

1

u/TheIronSoldier2 Dec 03 '22

This is correct

3

u/vinayyy-n28 Dec 03 '22

Imagine dying a looney toons death lmao I'd laugh

3

u/ProfBacterio Dec 03 '22 edited Dec 03 '22

"Wha? Oh you clever motherfu" - Some g̶e̶r̶m̶a̶n̶ allied soldier, probably.

2

u/Gandgareth Dec 03 '22

Except bunkers in Normandy would have been built by the Germans.

3

u/ProfBacterio Dec 03 '22

You are right, I'm a dumbass.

3

u/MinecraftWillNeverDy Dec 03 '22

We participate in some shananigins

3

u/MTN_Dewit Dec 03 '22

Imagine your a well trained and well equipped American soldier tasked with clearing this bunker only to die to some trick that came straight out of Loony Tunes

2

u/JOAO-RATAO Dec 03 '22

Call 911! But not for me

WW2 version.

2

u/sunibla33 Dec 03 '22

Must have heard of the Dirty Dozen and anticipated a visit from them.

2

u/stoneyyay Dec 03 '22

Could also be used as a real air vent. Pipe that supplies air in the middle of the U grenade still does the same thing.

2

u/AliHakan33 Dec 03 '22

Germans (or whoever built that bunker) doing a little bit of trolling

2

u/aidtibb Dec 03 '22

The amount of fucking times I’ve seen this posted here I would’ve died to a grenade at least 24 times

2

u/Ajg1384 Dec 03 '22

Gory hole.

2

u/madmancryptokilla Dec 04 '22

Cartoon type shit right there...

1

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '22

As a Redditor greatly described it: Y'all gotta imagine it like it was built like this if you look it from the side )-

2

u/CatFish8426 Dec 03 '22

If i had a penny everytime i see this post i would have four pennies. But still its wierd that it happend four times.

2

u/Romanitedomun Dec 03 '22

1

u/eighty2angelfan Dec 03 '22

ACME air vent

1

u/AaronBenne Dec 03 '22

Btilliant

1

u/AgrippaDaYounger Dec 03 '22

Just plug the bottom hole so the grenade stays confined in the tube, the explosive force should still transfer through the air system.

Or plug the bottom hole, throw in some burning rubber and block the top hole too.

1

u/garyda1 Dec 03 '22

Oh Nooooo!

1

u/LeAristocrat Dec 03 '22

If I see this one more time 😂

1

u/1984Slice Dec 03 '22

Damn it....i would be the guy to fall for that

1

u/LF_redit Dec 03 '22

The air vent said “no you”

1

u/WhiskeyMarlow Dec 03 '22

"Have a surprise, Hanz!"

"Right back at you, Tom!"

1

u/BIGfisher8 Dec 03 '22

War. What a nasty beast.

1

u/citrausa Dec 03 '22

That's fucking awesome... Wait who built it?

1

u/ian_dedeaux Dec 03 '22

We do a little trolling

1

u/haken31 Dec 03 '22

The "No u" bunker Noice

1

u/mercilessfatehate Dec 03 '22

I’ve seen this a few times. The camera work is excellent. Zooming in on the grenade by his feet ads a layer of theatrical elements

1

u/Michaelas_man Dec 03 '22

Reminds me of a buggs bunny cartoon

1

u/Lewd_ReadNY Dec 03 '22

Incoming! Doh. Outgo- 💥

1

1

u/gangawalla Dec 04 '22

I suppose this an only once used booby trap...

1

u/Informal-Salad-7304 Dec 04 '22

The dramatic zoom in

1

u/Game84ND17 Dec 04 '22

So. It's not a fake air vent. It's actually an air vent, but it's designed in a way that you can't throw grenades in.
