That man straight up murdered everyone who worked on the Disney live action pinocchio

I literally didn't even know Disney'a new crap version was out until I saw it on a streaming site and laughed at the ratings.

Del Toro is amazing. Can’t wait for his new TV show (Cabinet of curiosities)

27

u/rwecardo Sep 24 '22

Probably the best ad I've seen damn

8

u/TFismylife5 Sep 25 '22

So this is what deadman does in his spare time?

16

u/WellThisSix Sep 24 '22

Yeah disney! F U!

u/misfitmanagedhp Sep 24 '22

I really enjoy stop motion and clay animation movies. In the early wallace and grommit movies you could see the animators fingerprints on the characters. Or is it actually wax hmm anyway they are great.

13

u/Furyflow Sep 24 '22

wait why is there two pinocchio movies out at the same time?

6

u/_lost_ Sep 24 '22

There was also one not too long ago, in 2019 https://m.imdb.com/title/tt8333746/

17

u/bewarethechameleon Sep 24 '22

coz walt disney was an edgylord back in the day and disney corp doesn't want us to remember that so they're overhauling their entire library with live action crap and scooping the old movies under the sofa like nothing happened

2

u/JediMasterEvan5 Sep 25 '22

Moreover, isn't it a rights/copyright issue? Though the Disney version would not make sense in that context... more likely just a cash-grab.

3

u/bewarethechameleon Sep 25 '22

they've also cut or overhauled a lot of classic scenes from the movies, mulan most of all, that movie felt genuinely insulting to me

The novel, Le avventure di Pinocchio. Storia di un burattino by Carlo Collodi was first published in 1883 and has been public domain for a long time. Anyone can do a Pinocchio movie.

I wish he directed the Hobbit trilogy… I really do. I love Peter and believe he wasn’t given a fair choice by the studios, but this much love for creating a cinema tied to a prequel to one of the greatest Movie Trilogy of all time would have been legendary

3

u/bewarethechameleon Sep 25 '22

peter and guillermo would have been a tour de force in the hobbit

3

u/MrSplashman24 Sep 25 '22

Yea man! I must give credit where it’s due tho…. For the circumstances Peter Jackson was put in, with lack of preparation similar to that of LoTR, he did a fantastic job in creating a film. Studios asked for extra movie, but had they stuck to it, like Unexpected Journey shaped out to be, i think it would have not gotten the same criticism

2

u/throwaway-239123 Sep 25 '22

I just rewatched some of the hobbit and man, so much of the action scenes looked like a videogame. I was like this isn't great. Definitely hasn't aged well.

2

u/MrSplashman24 Sep 25 '22

super unfortunate man…. gets huge slack because of that, and “gOiNg OfF ScRiPt” but they should really have let PJ have a chance to create his own vision instead of what the studios wanted

Everything this guy does is amazing. U cannot wait for this movie!

6

u/mr_jurgen Sep 25 '22

You're right, I cannot wait.

2

u/vibrant_crab Sep 24 '22

Okay I absolutely must see this movie now.

5

u/acqz Sep 24 '22

Damn! Ads are getting smarter.

1

u/jjj49er Sep 25 '22

"Where's the beef" only gets you so far. You have to keep upping your game.

1

u/AverageSizedMan1986 Sep 25 '22

Usually when guys that look like Guillermo Del Toro say "This is my Pinocchio." we end up seeing something much different.

1

u/Somerandomguy243 Sep 25 '22

This is better than the new movie

1

u/Flowsnice Sep 25 '22

This dude is so likable

1

u/Yo-Friendly-Reaper Sep 29 '22

I thought this was an ad after watching this because I was so convinced that I NEED to watch this! Amazing work he’s done

-16

u/cgcego Sep 24 '22

I really wish film-makers belittling the artistic value of digital animations and vfx got to work with NO computers and then we see how the finished product looks ❤️

10

u/QWaRty2 Sep 25 '22

Nightmare before Christmas

2

u/AnteaterOk8524 Sep 25 '22

Consider taking a film.studies course...

2

u/bruthaman Sep 25 '22

Some of us were alive before CGI existed......including this man

2

u/cgcego Sep 25 '22

You are missing my point. Both practical and digital have merits and different uses. It’s about NOT belittling digital.

-16

u/Big_Worm44 Sep 24 '22

All this for for the 3rd best Pinocchio movie.

2

u/IanAlvord Sep 24 '22

Which was the 2nd?

-13

u/Big_Worm44 Sep 24 '22

Original then the Tom Hanks one then this one.

6

u/IanAlvord Sep 24 '22

You rank the new live action one that ads a black love interest for Pinocchio as better than this?

1

u/electricdwarf Sep 25 '22

Why does the skin color matter lol

1

u/IanAlvord Sep 25 '22

Pinocchio is from a 1883 Italian setting; not modern America. It makes absolutely no sense.

-1

u/electricdwarf Sep 25 '22

Okay? But were in 2022... This is a different thing. There are like three fucking pinocchio movies coming out, if you dont like that one go watch the others. Go watch the Pauly Shore Pinocchio if the skin color of a cartoon character matters that much to you. Fucking weirdo.

2

u/IanAlvord Sep 25 '22

Even in 2022, Italy is 95% Italian with the remaining 5% literally everything else. It makes even less sense for a pre WWI setting.

The movie is garbage.

-12

u/Big_Worm44 Sep 25 '22

Haven't seen either but likely the Tom Hanks Disney movie will be better than this. Yes

0

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '22

sadly the movie sucks
