14

u/greem Sep 24 '22

The people in the video seemed to.

13

They also seem to be sharing the same brain cell….

“Omg I’m scurr’d lmfao”

2

u/AlanSulf Sep 25 '22

Is this Gandalf?

3

u/trappedindealership Sep 24 '22

Maybe the disappointment is less due to the absence of real magic and more to the lack of stage magic (fancy hand tricks or something).

2

u/bblackt1 Sep 24 '22

I dunno… let’s hear both sides. Right now, magic seems the best option. Can you anyone provide the code for the app?

2

Phones are a magic the world should fear!! No human should have such power!

To be fair, most magic is either sleight of hand or a gimmicked object (including apps).

67

u/zbbrox Sep 24 '22

"Most"?

30

u/GozerDGozerian Sep 24 '22

Yeah some of it is having a secret twin brother, or having Nikolai Tesla invent a machine that lets you make exact copies of yourself.

3

u/pseudocultist Sep 24 '22

Do not recommend that last one, what the hell are you going to tell an IRS auditor who suddenly wants taxes from your 14 jobs? No one ever thinks of that part. The duplicates never withhold taxes. Ever. Sons of bitches.

"Get laid" App

20

u/dawr136 Sep 24 '22

I knew a dude in college that tried to use magic to get laid...it didn't work but it was better than the painfully cringey "pick up artist" techniques he tried.

2

u/Many_Consequence7723 Sep 24 '22

At this point in life, I require a little magic!

2

u/dawr136 Sep 24 '22

Lowering your standards and shooting your shot will work like magic.

I knew a dude in graduate school that was trying to learn magic to impress his kid (his wife was pregnant). Now I’m worried it’s the same guy and his only real motivation in life is to trick people and he’s so bad at it he’s moved on to babies.

Magicians are the most honest profession.

You know they are lying to you, they tell you that they are going to lie to you, then they tell us they are not lying to us, we believe it!

You would be really fun at a magic show. Just stand up after every trick and yell “Thats not real magic! Magic doesn’t exist! He is tricking you!!!!

On the left phone you can erase entries in Calculator by simply swiping left. The right phone might be a custom-made app, or a well rehearsed performance with a video (and possibly actors playing along)

287

u/LORD_0F_THE_RINGS Sep 24 '22

You can see it's all timed when she blows and it gets out of sync

123

u/Numarx Sep 24 '22

Most likely just a custom blue tooth clicker.

52

u/mars935 Sep 24 '22

Sheesh I was thinking wayyy to far!

I was thinking of the mic registering her blowing, the gyro registering the turning of the phone, the camera registering his hand etc

13

u/tehdox Sep 25 '22

Or a bluetooth clicker

6

u/SubtleScuttler Sep 24 '22

He cleared the smaller phone at the end and it was way delayed after he pressed the button

14

u/futurespacecadet Sep 24 '22

yeah the blowing part was real dumb. once you bring physics into it, its obvious its a video or animation. i mean, its obvious anyways. i dont know how anyone is amazed by iphone magic lol

9

u/TenBillionDollHairs Sep 24 '22

I'm 99% sure you can interact with a handful of apps by blowing and it's something you can program for with iPhones. It was supposed to be a big feature and just didn't do anything.

3

u/FBIaltacct Sep 25 '22

You can, in the early days of smart phones there were a lot of interactive apps like that.

1

u/nastynate384 Sep 24 '22

And at 1:09 when he hits the clear button on the phone on the right there is a delay.

18

u/irnehlacsap Sep 24 '22

The dude press 7 on the phone on the right

4

u/mrgraff Sep 24 '22

Hmm, I think his thumb got very close to the screen but it didn’t touch.

2

u/three-sense Sep 24 '22

Yeah the bystanders who are actually in on it are a big part of these “ad hoc” illusions.

Do you believe the point of magic tricks is to fool people into thinking magic is real? It's a performance

-1

u/TrixAreForTeens Sep 24 '22

It’s hardly a performance lol. It’s an app. The app is the performer here.

6

u/mightbedylan Sep 24 '22

Do you know how many magicians have performed the "magic rings" trick that's literally just a pre bought magic kit. Its still a rehearsed performance, how is this any different?

1

u/horsemagicians Sep 24 '22

Do you think people actually think this guy magical powers and you had to warn them all?

4

u/10bamapepper Sep 24 '22

I can do magic. Look in my underwear! Empty right ! Now look again!

5

u/ihatepalmtrees Sep 24 '22

Wow. An app that does “magic” for you. Fun for kids I guess

13

u/bk15dcx Sep 24 '22

That's nothing. Impress me by doing this with a couple rotary dial

3

u/Y34rZer0 Sep 24 '22

It’d be more impressive if you could just share a link or picture between them like that

3

u/neeto_mosqueeto Sep 24 '22

This got exhausting when she blew on the phone and the app had a delayed response.

3

u/KindlyDevelopment339 Sep 24 '22

Anything on a digital device that can receive / send signals is not magic Lmao

3

u/Dorkmaster79 Sep 24 '22

It’s just an app dude

3

u/Isthisworking2000 Sep 25 '22

Guy buys two app design courses online and thinks he’s a magician.

3

u/shartbike321 Sep 25 '22

“That was fucking phenomenal” was the best part of the whole video 🤣🤣

3

u/Advanced_Ad4361 Sep 25 '22

This is like if Chris Angel was a failed app designer/accountant lmao. I miss when magic tricks and illusions used to be actually impressive like David Copperfield making the Statue Of Liberty "disappear" or escaping from a safe in a building that's being demolished. These kids probably don't know how to even use a calculator and would be impressed if he just did simple math. "7007024 + 1001111 = 8008135" WOAH DUDE!

24

u/audioslave_25 Sep 24 '22

Audience was blown away when he clicked “AC” after “123456” as it became “0”.

24

u/Canvaverbalist Sep 24 '22

I hate when people try and read people from videos, but in this case it is obviously sarcasm.

10

u/salbris Sep 24 '22

Sometimes I wonder if commentors are aliens... the concept of sarcasm never occurred to them? Or maybe they just want to feel so smart they want to assume these people are morons. It's so fucking cringe though.

6

u/Canvaverbalist Sep 24 '22

I don't mean that as an insult, at all (and I hate that it is used as an insult), but it's being made more evident every day that a lot of redditors are on the spectrum.

This was a set up. "Ah ha I caught you!" makes the followup number transferring to the right screen unexpected again.

2

u/Tsmart Sep 25 '22

Crazy that other people missed this. Was super obvious it was a bait for his next trick

23

u/feldomatic Sep 24 '22

If you notice, he's only adding 7's, and you can almost make out the sleight of hand where he hits the 7 key. Add the swiping history feature described in another comment, and this is effectively using new tech to do old tricks.

27

u/Nerrickk Sep 24 '22

Its gotta be either a custom app or video. You can't make digits appear not in line on the base calculator.

13

u/crownpr1nce Sep 24 '22

The 7 that appears at the top and slides down, the 7s that move to the top all mismatched and come back down are not functions of the calculator. Its a custom app or video for sure.

7

u/TheyKeepBanningMeVPN Sep 24 '22

What about the end with other numbers

2

u/dontshoot4301 Sep 24 '22

It’s an app called R-digit for magicians lol

5

u/BJMRamage Sep 24 '22

Haha. I knew how to do the left phone. The right is a new thing. But easy to understand.

2

u/LakeSamm Sep 24 '22

Nice App

2

u/Ghostofbillhicks Sep 24 '22

It’s not sleight of hand. Most likely it’s two mock ups of the calc app, but in reality just a video on both that he’s in sync with

2

u/Tel-kar Sep 24 '22

Videos, how do they work?

/s

2

u/PixieRadical Sep 24 '22

2

u/soxinthebox Sep 24 '22

2

5
