I feel like straw man arguments get a lot of unnecessary hate. It's a perfectly good technique for conveying a point. Why should anyone care if the original situation ever existed or not? It's not like we're on a high school debate team or anything.

Logical fallacies are a part of everyday communication. A dumb part, sure. But if someone wants to make up shit and pretend it happened just so they can get imaginary internet points, that's OK with me.

I might not have felt that way in the past, but it's been a year of letting go for me. I'm a lot more forgiving of different styles of communication these days. I can't stop people from setting up arguments just so they can knock them down, so why should I even care if they do? I dunno. I guess I'm just not the internet policeman I used to be.
