Elon is upset that people are treating Twitter like 4chan after having done everything he can to make it like 4chan

4chan is free to use. Elon wants to charge 8 dollars so that some free speech is seen more than others. If he was any denser he would create a black hole.

Lmao, you mean Reddit not Moderators.

Reddit's Administrators can manually shadowban you but that is unlikely, it's usually done automatically and real people can get caught up due to the algorithm messing up.

Comments that have [removed] aren't shadowbanned but instead either got it removed by the subreddit's mod or a reddit admin, shadowbanned comments don't show up at all unless approved by a mod.

I had that happen to me 4 years ago and found out through r/shadowban, appealed to one of reddit's admins and got that fixed in less than 72 hours.

Reddit got more mainstream now so it might be harder or take longer but as long as you didn't break Reddit's Terms of Service it should be an easy fix.

3

u/kataskopo Nov 28 '22

Shadow banning is a very useful thing to combat spam and troll accounts, so they don't overrun the site.

But only admins can shadow ban site-wide, mods can only do it for individual subreddits.

Please don't spread misinformation, this shit is public info and can be found anywhere.

4

u/iUsedtoHadHerpes Nov 28 '22 edited Nov 28 '22

That's not what shadowbanning is. That's just a removed comment.

You don't have to go to any other website either. Just open the comment incognito or in a browser where you're not logged in.

A shadow ban is when your entire account is invisible to everyone but you. If you open any of your comments somewhere else, it's like it just doesn't exist. I think you can still see the user page, but any comments and posts are hidden from everyone.

I don't understand why people don't realize that Elon Musk is just a fucking moron.

He was lucky enough to have the happenstance of being born wealthy. That's it. That's his only "accomplishment".

He just takes over companies with that money. Sure, he says and his cult believes that he's self made, but that's a huge fucking lie they want to believe.

He's never created anything. he's never designed anything. He's never invented anything.

He simply took the credit of the smart people who did those things.

When he's not able to take their credit, it's glaringly obvious just how stupid the man really is.

He doesn't have a PR team at Twitter covering for his idiocy and he's showing the world what an imbecile he really is.

Being rich doesn't make you smart. Being rich doesn't make you right.

He's just a stupid rich guy with an army of sychophants that line up to suckle his grundle in the hopes that they will be able to ride his coattails. His cult are useful idiots that have perpetrated the lie that Elon Musk is anything but an asshole who got lucky to be born to wealthy parents running an emerald mine on slave labor in apartheid South Africa.

Because when he started getting famous with Tesla and SpaceX, the media created a mythology around him to make it seem like he was the "real life Ironman".

In reality, he's nowhere near charismatic as Tony Stark, can't engineer anything, comes up with dumbass ideas (Thailand rescue sub), and gets all pissy when people criticize him.

He's an asshat whose entire legacy could've been to be remembered as the greatest space industrialist, but now he's tarnished that with all his petty bullshit in social media.

If these past few years have taught me anything, it's that billionaires should not be managing their own social media accounts. They get completely carried away and addicted to seeking attention, which causes their megalomania to amplify their sociopathy.

Ironically, the fictional ultra-capitalist Andrew Ryan from “Bioshock” sums this up nicely:

”A man builds. A parasite asks, ‘Where’s my share?’”

Elon is a parasitic CEO, flitting from company to company like a billionaire tourist just to take credit for the accomplishments of thousands of others. Spend some money, and suddenly their accomplishments are “his” accomplishments. As much is painfully clear in the way he forced himself to he declared “founder” of PayPal, despite purchasing the company when it was already established. He can’t stand to live with the notion that anything he owns was anything but his own vision, his own creation.

This later Twitter stunt has revealed that Musk's business strategy is to have speculators and government fund his industry to be successful.

Take Hyperloop. The idea itself didn't draw any speculators, but he managed to get a government to pay for the project, over budget, and under delivered. Without that "monorail sale" the Boring Company would've been dissolved.

We're seeing this now that without being bailed out by governments, now likely China and Saudi Arabia, Twitter is gonna flop.

They don't give a fuck about free speech, they're using "free speech" as a buzzword with the complete opposite meaning ("other people should be forced to support my opinions"). Elon is a narcissist and quickly realized how much quick, easy attention he gets from idiots when he throws around nonsensical outrage bait like this. It's the same shit Trump did, he was very much a Democrat before he ran for president, but discovered how effortlessly he can get conservatives to fawn over him if he just repeats the handful of easy, simple phrases that get them riled up.

It's the same reason Elon made a huge show of ending blue checkmarks. He's stupid but he wasn't stupid enough to think that attacking identity verification and content moderation would somehow make the site better, he did it specifically because "blue checkmarks" recently became a ridiculous right-wing boogeyman and he wanted to act like a hero destroying the bad guys.

All billionaires HATE the free market, because they do everything in their power to stifle competition, reduce innovation or have literally any other company make money, if they themselves can’t control it.

29

u/GRAND_INQUEEFITOR Nov 28 '22

All billionaires HATE the free market

I feel like we should step through some terminology here, and not because I disagree with your sentiment, but because I think this confusion gets at the heart of some pretty insidious right-wing propaganda.

Billionaires love free markets. What they hate is the more efficient competitive markets that actually lead to a better allocation and use of resources.

People have been taught to treat the term “free markets” as some kind of grand economic theory showing that any kind of government intervention hurts market efficiency. But when economists talk about efficiency, they don’t throw around the “free markets” term; they talk about perfectly competitive markets. Perfect competition is what helps markets reach their long-term equilibrium.

And competitive markets require a lot more than freedom. In fact, a lot of conditions toward perfect competition are contrary to freedom, as understood by the right wing: well-defined antitrust regulations, perfect information, and a general parity of power between buyers and sellers. Of course, these things are antithetical to the very existence of billionaires.

So next time your cousin Will draws a supply-and-demand curve and shows you how government intervention throws it out of equilibrium, just remember that “free markets” is not some kind of quantum field theory equivalent in economics. Free-market societies work best when they strive toward perfect competition, which inevitably requires rules and regulations.

I still remember when criticizing Musk would net me so many downvotes. I feel totally vindicated, lmao. And this is why you don’t form a cult of personality around billionaires.

The year is 2029.

You look up from writing your government-mandated 69 lines of salient code this hour, and realize you've just missed the deadline for your Required Bi-Hourly Tweet.

8 Muskbucks is automatically subtracted from your PayPal account.

The brakes of a self-driving Tesla screech at your door. It speeds and weaves, hitting only three baby strollers on the way to the 3:15 SpaceX to the emerald mines on Marsh.

Fanboys cheer.

Elon Musk wanted to be liked by the cool kids. He's so desperate to be admired, to be thought of as Tony Stark or similar. But sometimes it's hard to get the cool kids to like you when you're kind of a douche.

He saw how easy it is to get a cult-like following among conservatives and alt-right types. All you have to do is say stupid shit and "own the libs" and they will flock to you like a cult. He'd rather have the cool kids, but he'll settle for being worshipped by the uncool kids if that's what it takes. So that's what he's pivoting to now.

He's a megalomaniac narcissist that needs the attention first and foremost. He'll get it where he can.

Apple choosing not to advertise on a dying platform without a return is a good business decision.

You buying a company with other peoples money and driving it’s profitability into the ground is a bad business decision.

75

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '22

He should just buy Apple. That’ll show them!!!

Apple's market cap is $2290 billion at market prices and trying to buyout a company drives up the price. Musk's net worth is $191 billion and is mostly concentrated in overpriced Tesla and SpaceX stock (that would go way down if he tried to make it liquid to purchase Apple).

Zero chance in hell he could buy Apple.

The right to free speech means the government can't arrest you for what you say. It doesn't mean that anyone else has to listen to your bullshit or host it while you share it. The 1st amendment doesn't shield you from criticism or consequences. If you're yelled at, boycotted, have you're show cancelled, or get banned from an internet community, your free speech rights aren't being violated. It's just the people listening think you're an asshole and they're showing you the door. Companies are showing what they think of Elon's ideas and beliefs.

Notably, Twitter facilitated communication during the arab spring, where the people organized to stand against and even overthrow several broken and corrupt government regimes throughout the middle east - including some participation in places like Saudi Arabia, for example.

Twitter's second largest investor after musk takeover... the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and it's de facto leader who, among other things, killed and dismembered an American journalist without consequence somewhat recently.

And now Twitter is about to be killed... and dismembered.
