I didn't realise it was the bench you are supposed to press.

bro having some "brotein" shake 💀

86

u/All_Work_All_Play Nov 29 '22

It's a single yellow plate too...

I don't support this type of lift (and I'm glad it's been changed) but FFS if you're going to screw up your physiology at least do it after more than a few years of lifting.

u/ExtremelyGamer1 Nov 29 '22

Could be a warmup set

This image gave me scoliosis and I'm suing for the medical expenses.

52

u/shoots-shot-hot Nov 29 '22

Lordosis

15

u/Mangifera__indica Nov 29 '22

Kyphosis too if you are lucky.

5

u/zman_0000 Nov 29 '22

I may join you on that. I just threw my back out glancing at that image. Really hope that it's staged or photoshopped in some way...

u/Interesting_Mirror20 Nov 29 '22

Great form totally won't herniate a disk.

59

u/ManyThing2187 Nov 29 '22

I actually have a friend who lifts like this. She has some weird thing with her spine that makes it super flexible and when she lifts it just goes up like that. It does something similar when she does squats and deadlifts too. It still freaks me out to look at but she lifts incredible weights.

18

u/BitchAssWaffle Nov 29 '22

Lot of powerlifters have extreme arch on bench cuz it limits their range of motion

3

u/Numerous_Witness_345 Nov 30 '22

How to lift more by moving less.

Good ol pointlifters

480

u/Kyrian1002 Nov 29 '22

Blursed teabag, or cursed oral?

89

u/[deleted] Nov 29 '22

If it's cursed oral, then this is the perfect trap.

15

u/MeltAway421 Nov 29 '22

Well the contortion isnt because of the weight so....

42

u/CBOranch1 Nov 29 '22

You guys don't lift. That's how the NCAA and NFL players lift dude. With proper form my guy.

36

u/Kyrian1002 Nov 29 '22

“Do you even lift bro?” “I call it, “someone call the exorcist.””

73

u/BlackEye2545 foreskin removal expert Nov 29 '22

The IPF until recently: yep, that looks totally fine for me.

18

u/Hero_of_Hyrule Nov 29 '22

Did they finally change the ruling on that crime against lifting?

17

u/JJustRex Nov 29 '22

yes the elbows now need to go below the shoulders or something along those lines

1

u/_OliveOil_ Nov 30 '22

There's no way his butt is touching the bench

62

u/Sympythy Nov 29 '22

Interesting flex.

54

u/Rammipallero Nov 29 '22

The least fucked up lifting form.

32

u/TopiTheObscure Nov 29 '22

That man could act as a trebuchet while doing sit ups

11

u/Wide_Loss Nov 29 '22

that's a catapult, trebuchet would go to the person that did the plank for 4 hours straight

5

u/Grinsnap Nov 29 '22

There was a man who did planks for 10 hours I think he holds the record

2

u/mombi Nov 29 '22

That's absurdly funny

14

u/Crotch_Hammerer Nov 29 '22

"Board presses? Where we're going, I am the board! "

10

u/JohnLockeNJ Nov 29 '22

5

u/DragonArt101 Nov 29 '22

9

u/JohnLockeNJ Nov 29 '22

10

u/[deleted] Nov 29 '22

71

u/whatdoings Nov 29 '22

This is what happens when you subscribe to Athlean-X

17

u/TopiTheObscure Nov 29 '22

The g a i n s are just immaculate

13

u/emotionaI_cabbage Nov 29 '22

Athlean X doesn't give advice like this whatsoever though lmao.

I don't even watch his content anymore but still, there are WAY worse fitness people on YouTube. He's decent.

4

u/Vikseba Nov 29 '22

My personal fav fitness youtuber is def Sean (dont onow how to spell his last name, the asian dude). He's very to the point no bs and easy to understand.

2

u/_OliveOil_ Nov 30 '22

Sean Nalewanyj! I love his content too

Benching without a 90 degree arch is KILLING YOUR GAINS

18

u/TheRoguePatriot Nov 29 '22

Two weeks later:

"Why benching with a 90 degree arch is KILLING YOUR GAINS"

9

u/TopiTheObscure Nov 29 '22

"The latest research shows clearly that 90 degree arch is TOO NARROW, if you're not benching with at least 150 degrees, YOU'RE NOT DOING IT RIGHT!"

9

u/CreedThoughts--Gov Nov 29 '22

Then another two weeks later he makes a new video and makes the first point again.

And all these videos will get 2-5M views.

4

u/QuidProQuoChocobo Nov 29 '22

His back is a straight up protractor

14

u/edoedi15 Nov 29 '22

Bro at least be accurate with your roast

6

u/WeebOnDiscord Nov 29 '22 Silver

Bro is standing up and laying down at the same time

3

u/WiryFoxMan Nov 29 '22

Good god, have my free

23

u/NoScrying Nov 29 '22

In that lift type, the only rule is that feet must be on the ground and the bar has to touch your chest, so in comps you see people lift maybe 4 inches. It's BS

inb4 "It's a different technique bro!".

16

u/emotionaI_cabbage Nov 29 '22

Not anymore. IPF have adjusted their rules so lifts like this one wouldn't count anymore either.

5

u/Danubinmage64 Nov 29 '22

Pretty sure your ass must touch the bench.

Also they recently added a ruling to powerlifting fixing this issue. Lifts must have your arm parallel to the ground at the bottom of the lift

2

u/NoScrying Nov 29 '22

That makes it more bearable at least

10

u/avwitcher Nov 29 '22

It's so ridiculous when people are setting PBs by not even attempting to get a full range of motion in. The only person you're bullshitting with that nonsense is yourself

2

u/hyrppa95 Nov 29 '22

Glutes also hahe to touch the bench

4

u/steamedandhammed Nov 29 '22

The arch is the strongest shape in nature…

4

u/Zim1123 Nov 29 '22

“Alright bro, plant your feet on the ground, arch your back and hold your breath as you lift… perfect”

4

u/Moist-Meat-Popsicle Nov 29 '22

Reminds me of those dudes doing arm curls where they are swinging their hips more than they are bending their elbows.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 29 '22

ah yes, the QWOP

7

u/crawsex Nov 29 '22

You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

3

u/RobbSnow64 Nov 29 '22

Its basically doing a dip at that point

3

u/Caywo Nov 29 '22

Femenine bench press WR be like

3

u/HazaChillzOut Nov 29 '22

My dude can definitely suck his own dick.

3

u/FroyoSensitive8572 Nov 29 '22

I consider bench pressing like this cheating because 1 you don’t move the bar as for as you are supposed to and 2 with the back at that angle instead of it being like a push up type move it become like you are pushing something down. Like when you are standing up and push the trash in the can down to make more space

2

u/avidpenguinwatcher Nov 29 '22

This is where I went to college lol

2

u/dahater419 Nov 29 '22

“Put your back into it”

2

u/iiElysiumx Nov 29 '22

This is just IPF

0

u/emotionaI_cabbage Nov 29 '22

Not anymore!

2

u/iiElysiumx Nov 29 '22

Thank the lord. I know a few people who compete in powerlifting and they were very happy about this change

2

u/Fun-Telephone-6238 Nov 29 '22

When you've seen priest after priest and none of the exorcisms worked. So you try to see if exercise will help.

2

u/2020pythonchallenge Nov 29 '22

My guy trying to do declines on a flat bench

2

u/R4K45H1 Nov 29 '22

2

1
