How fucking sad is it that a lot of (most) people base their self worth on how much money they make

282

u/jayydubbya Aug 13 '22

They’re pretty clearly a couple of miserable fucks I don’t think they have much self worth to work with.

Happy, well adjusted people don't go around defecating on and bullying others.

Their behavior speaks volumes.

23

u/dirtymike436 Aug 13 '22

They also don’t go inside McDonald’s

206

u/DelightfulDonald Aug 13 '22

$45 an hour ain’t even six figs. This guy is bragging about having a good middle class job like he’s some kind of mogul.

68

u/_-WanderLost-_ Aug 13 '22

35 with a double wide.

17

u/Bumpasaurus Aug 13 '22

Exactly, and I thought he said $35 too

6

u/mdtopp111 Aug 13 '22

Bro I make more than that and I feel like I’m comfortable but I still have to budget pretty hard to stay safe. Mans insane if he thinks $35 an hour is worth holding over someone else

9

u/Bumpasaurus Aug 13 '22

I made about $12,000 a year, so that’s a fuckload to me, but still I wouldn’t ever brag about my income in an argument ever, it’s just so irrelevant and insecure.

2

u/Melicalol Aug 15 '22

I mean dude is bragging to a McDonalds employee...

"I can order 30 Mcchickens an hour pal!"

71

u/Boalsack Aug 13 '22

$45 an hour and it looks like he's close to retirement age. $45 was his peak wage.

41

u/ppw23 Aug 13 '22

He’s probably 20 years younger than he looks. Of course all it took for that shit couple to start disrespecting their fellow man, was a package of tartar sauce. Seriously, not getting their tartar sauce brought out the worst in them. I’m sure they’ll listen to hate radio on the drive home, once there, turn on the ever present fox.

8

u/H-5812 Aug 13 '22

… and there’s nothing wrong with that … but it’s definitely low-class and gauche to try to “salary-shame” someone working an honest job in the service industry, as Bubba Florida tried to do in the video.

-3

u/myztry Aug 13 '22

It goes further than that. If you are close to retirement and your main income is in hours, then you've failed.

Real wealth doesn't correlate with hours. It's based around investments.

Somebody who has made it is paying this guy by the hour which is vastly different than getting a share of the profit.

12

u/tayto Aug 13 '22

You think all nurses have failed?

7

u/ArchdukeBurrito Aug 13 '22

If you work a job that you're proud of and are able to retire I definitely wouldn't call it a failure. Money is not the universal metric of success.

I also know lawyers that get paid by the hour and they definitely aren't failing by any financial metric. Depending on what kind of law you practice clients could be getting billed hundreds of dollars an hour for your time.

5

u/GuidedLazer Aug 13 '22

That doesn't even make sense. People who own their own business still work for an hourly wage. Salaried corporate style companies are not the only ones that exist. What you mean to say is you cannot get rich my working for someone else which is also generally true but again, not always the case.

3

u/Funkualumni07 Aug 13 '22

I think your comment got misinterpreted.

I think what you are trying to get across is that at some point, if you have been successful in managing your financial wealth, when you are close to retirement, your hourly rate is insignificant compared to your accrued investments and prospective income from said investments.

This is an objective outlook on financial wealth. It is however hard when people to understand when they live paycheck to paycheck.

You could be 60 and still living paycheck to paycheck, and have no investments, except a car you owe money on and a mortgage a bank let you refinance 5 years ago. Your hourly would be very important, but you wouldn’t be “close to retirement age” even if you are collecting social security. You would still have to work

You could be 50, never been in debt, invested heavily, lived extremely below your means, and are looking to retire in 5 years. At this point, your hourly becomes less important than what your past investments have and continue to do.

Who has been more successful.

I believe this is what you are trying to get at.

2

u/EnvironmentalWrap167 Aug 13 '22

“Real wealth” is a very subjective term, different for everyone. Not only for an actual dollar amount which delineates the wealthy and not wealthy, but also what is seen as truly “personal wealth” for the individual.

There’s an old quote from 1%ers: “You can always pay half of the poor to kill the other half” and they give a creepy laugh. I’d like to that’s only the dumb ones, like that guy, but maybe I’m naïve.

3

u/Pie-Otherwise Aug 13 '22

Not to mention the fact that a good fast food manager can make 6 figures all day long, even 5 years ago that was completely possible and now it's a super in-demand job. If McD's franchises are giving out iPhones to people willing to work the register, how do you think they are incentivizing the people who run a lot of their business for them?

2

u/xkemex Aug 13 '22

And I think he's messing with the franchise owner which for sure is a millionaire 😂

u/QuincyThePigBoy Aug 13 '22

It's funny because the same people that do blue collar, union jobs for 35 bucks an hour shit on people who don't work and then shit on people who work for not making a lot of money. I know a guy who's in a labor union and he probably actually works 4 hours a day. They go back to the office 30 min early to ride out their day rather than working until the end of the shift. He and a bunch of guys play 25 cent poker for the last 30 min. When it's raining, they just drive around in trucks looking for clogged street drains when there aren't any. When there's snow in the forecast they go to work 4 hours early and sit in the office makig time and a half. They get paid OT, like $60/hr to repaint the center line in the road. I've been around these guys and they unanimously agreed that fast food employees dont deserve $15/hr.

I applied for said job 4x and was told twice that it was already waiting for an employees relative and wasn't actually available after I used a vacation day to do the interview.

58

u/NoUseForAName2222 Aug 13 '22

Union workers that hate on working class people are the fucking worst. Fucking traitors to their class

I recently attended a party being thrown in honor of a buddy’s little brother achieving journeyman status in a local union. My buddy and his Dad are also members of the same union so, oftentimes, it’s all I ever hear about when I am around them. It’s really amazing how, for some people, what you do becomes who you are. Anyways, at the time of this party my buddy’s little brother wasn’t even actively working and was collecting unemployment. In fact, over the course of the five years that are required to achieve journeyman status I would venture to guess that he only worked 40% of that time. It made for some pretty awkward party conversation.

I can’t speak for everyone who collects a paycheck from a union but literally every person that I have come into contact with that is part of a union is always very opinionated about the merits and flaws of the Welfare System. Whenever this topic comes up and I am surrounded by the pick-up truck driving, sunglasses on the brim of the baseball cap wearing, tobacco chewing union crowd that I know, I always remind them of the parallels between the Welfare System that they criticize and the Unemployment Insurance Benefits that they draw from. They all have the same answer… “I pay into that. IT’S MY RIGHT!”.

For the record, I love the family I described in the first part of my story and I would do anything for them. My gripe has always been and will always continue to be with Unions. They harbor a sense of entitlement rarely seen elsewhere.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '22

[deleted]

3

u/throwawaffel Aug 13 '22

Anti union sentiment like this is unfortunately common, as corporations have been waging war on unions for the last 60-70 years in the U.S.

Sure, but many unions do a pretty good job of alienating their would-be supporters as well. I am pro-union in the sense I want strong government protections for them, but I have been eligible to join two unions over the course of my work life and have declined both. In both cases, they used the vast majority of their time and money to support practices that solely benefited senior, often incompetent workers that were well socially connected to other union members.

The idea of unions is great, and I wish they were more widespread. But there are a lot of individual unions that are just as bad as the stereotype suggests.

Why’s he bragging about $45 an hour?

7

u/WhimsicalWeedle Aug 13 '22

He’s bragging about 35😂

2

u/Bumpasaurus Aug 13 '22

I listened many times now, and he’s clearly saying “thorty-five bucks an hour”, so it’s not even a real number 😂🤣

1

u/_no_pants Aug 13 '22

I make a little more than that and it’s not as much money as you think.

And folks ask who in the fuck votes for Marjorie Fuck her Name and Lauren Dipshit.

These people.

2

u/bazzington Aug 13 '22

they forgot to smash everything in the place.

2

u/EricJ30 Aug 13 '22

Anyone who’s first response is how much money they make, automatically subtract 70% of that. $35 an hour and this fat fuck is bitching about tartar sauce at a McDonald’s lmfaoooo

2

u/suddenlycumbly Aug 13 '22

I have a 20 year old manager who is the fucking bees knees when it comes to fast food. The kid makes $19.50 last I checked and also goes to school.

I'm so tired of people pulling the wage card. Girl makes more than a teacher. She pulls doubles all the time - makes overtime, gets bonuses cos she's a slayer at her job. Gtfo jean dude

Edit: oh oh oh oh and she deals with this shit like a saint, daily. God this pissed me off lol

2

u/VinkoBogatajsSkis Aug 13 '22

Tell me you have a short fuse without telling me you have a short fuse.

2

u/KennnnnnL Aug 13 '22

Lol then go get tartar sauce elsewhere with your $45/hour wage

u/ChefLite7 Aug 13 '22

Have they never heard of buying a franchise 😂

2

u/therevjames Aug 13 '22

People saying that $45/hr isn't impressive, are just as ignorant as these choads insulting the manager over his perceived low wages. Most of us would love to earn $45/hr. This guy, and his wife, are truly pieces of shit.

This guy probably owns that location as well since he’s saying my store and isn’t fully uniformed so this guy probably rakes it in ahaha

2

u/InMiThroat Aug 13 '22

McDonald’s store owners typically make $200k a year. Which is $100 an hour.

2

u/neonchimp Aug 13 '22

Wow 45 an hour and you can't buy some fucking decency

2

u/97ToyotaTercelTurbo Aug 13 '22

I make $45 a hour!!!! Where’s my tartar sauce cause I can’t afford real fish!!!

2

u/SheKaep Aug 13 '22

2

u/carbon370z Aug 13 '22

45 bucks an hour and you’re eating McDonald’s stfu

2

u/J-sullied Aug 13 '22

I make $45 an hour…until you have a heart attack in a week you pudgy bastard

2

u/baconsword420 Aug 13 '22

Is it a requirement to have that body type before being a prick at a fast food chain or just coincidence?

2

u/patiomcl Aug 13 '22

fucking republican trash

2

u/rystee Aug 13 '22

“How many bowling balls can you eat, cuz I can eat A LOT.”

2

u/bradd_pit Aug 13 '22

All because of a side of tartar sauce...

2

u/rafapdc Aug 13 '22

Watch out! We got a captain of industry in our hands here! He makes $35 and hour.

2

u/Bumpasaurus Aug 13 '22

$35/hour isn’t enough to brag about, I’m sorry. I thought he was gonna say much higher.🤣🤣🤣🤦‍♂️

I would t even consider bringing up my wage in an argument unless it was 100/hour plus, or at least a yearly salary. Obviously I wouldn’t bring it up regardless, cause it’s a major douche move. But come on, $35/hour and he thinks he’s hot shit? That’s just twice minimum wage…

2

u/torsun_bryan Aug 13 '22

Imagine only making $45/hr and bragging about it

2

u/InternationalAd6705 Aug 13 '22

But he makes 45 dollars a hour lol

2

u/magoo1979 Aug 13 '22

Stupid people always got to tell you how much money they make

2

u/felanm Aug 13 '22

Managers at restaurants make pretty decent money.

2

u/PeptoPirate Aug 13 '22

Why don't you go buy some fucking tartar sauce if you make so much, bud.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '22

Wife: “What are you wearing today Scott?”

searches in his all denim closet

Scott: “Denim, Debra. All of it.”

2

u/sirkowski Aug 13 '22

If you make that much money, why are you eating like a plebeian?

4

u/Advntrislf88 Aug 13 '22

I wonder where they stand politically 😂

3

u/SnooCalculations7000 Aug 13 '22

Not a man in his 60’s bragging about $35 an hour

3

u/Altruistic_Rub_2308 Aug 13 '22

Trumpers fo’ sho’!

1

u/Deeboss06 Aug 13 '22
