Few things are more depressing than a nightclub suddenly bathed in florescent lighting.

283

u/jaytelo Jul 01 '22

Used to be a bouncer goddamn you made me laugh.

132

u/fragbert66 Jul 01 '22

Seconded. I play in a local bar band. Nothing's more depressing than seeing the venues all lit up after closing.

105

u/snakefinn Jul 01 '22

As someone who works a kitchen at a bar/restaurant, seeing the lights come on and the music stop makes me happy. It means we can go home soon

21

u/fragbert66 Jul 01 '22

Sure, but I am positive that your restaurant is at least an order of magnitude cleaner than the average nightclub, and you have a much smaller ratio of passed out tweakers in the bathrooms and outside by the dumpsters.

I played a bar once that posted their house rules in huge letters as you walked in. Rule #1 was "Don't Smoke Meth". Rule #2 was "Wear Deodorant".

23

u/Yurin_Guudhanz Jul 01 '22

Yes! We called those the ugly lights

So why were the other 57 people fighting?

287

u/mac13alpha Jun 30 '22

I was gonna say 56, just in case there is another significant other somewhere in there.. But I agree with your concept

79

u/Sobdo Jul 01 '22

The video only shows about ~10 people fighting, with some trying to break up the fight.

75

u/XFLAllStar Jul 01 '22

There wasn’t really 60 of them. They just called themselves the Crazy 60. I guess they just wanted to sound cool.

16

27

since a majority of people are wearing white, my guess is if they aren't crew it could be a wedding / family gathering and this was a white themed night. My buddy had a white themed pre wedding event the night before he got married in Mexico. Likely family/friends of those directly involved trying to break it up. Of course some bystanders may have been hit accidentally which brought in more fighters.

https://nypost.com/2022/06/30/carnival-cruise-brawl-caught-on-camera-broke-out-over-alleged-cheating-passenger-says/

Can't find an article to confirm though

If you have ever been on a Carnival Cruise, they have a night where people dress up for dinner and it seems that the majority of POC wear white. They take lots of pictures, it’s a formal night.

31

u/ProfessorPetrus Jul 01 '22

Formal as can be for a carnival cruise.

14

u/Sue_Ridge_Here1 Jul 01 '22

I must remember to pack my white leggings for the Ball.

34

u/joe_i_guess Jul 01 '22

Here you go. I’ve never been on a cruise but I learned from others several times that Carnival caters to the trash bags of society.

9

u/MontaniBarbam Jul 01 '22

Cruises cater to the trash of society. I mean if you have money you don't spend a vacation with thousands of other people crammed into the same immediate space as you.

Is there a high-end cruise line, like Nordstrom-level quality?

7

u/jonat_90 Jul 01 '22

Literally any cruise line but carnival lmao

4

u/juggling-monkey Jul 01 '22

In my experience, Carnival is fine, the issue is with the short sailings (about 3 days). These are just booze cruises full of people who get on a cheap cruise just to drink for the weekend. Usually only small older (shitty) ships are used for this as well. I've done longer 11 day cruises on newer ships like the Carnival Vista and the quality was great.

3

u/Gasonfires Jul 01 '22

Celebrity is pretty nice. There are also many small cruise ships that carry just a couple hundred people in fine style.

7

u/Ok-Willow-131 Jul 01 '22

I personally like them because I don’t want to be around of people bitching. Most of the time people are just happy to be there so spirits are high. Been on 6 Carnival and a few Royal and Norwegian. I’ll take carnival all day. Especially now that I’ve had kids

31

u/Away-Ad-8053 Jul 01 '22

Yeah but this one probably left San Pedro California

12

u/luxii4 Jul 01 '22

You’re not wrong - the Catalina Island/Ensenada destinations. Can’t beat the cost though.

7

u/Away-Ad-8053 Jul 01 '22

I was born in Long Beach and raised in Torrance. The construction company next-door to where I lived built A lot the Terminals and I asked the owner if he got a discount on cruise line tickets and he just laughed and said you couldn’t pay him to go on one of them LOL! And that was back in the early 1980s

6

u/juggling-monkey Jul 01 '22

I've also done a lot of cruises. Asia, Europe, carribean... All were amazing. I'm from Los Angeles, and eventually thought, why fly out when I can just drive to long Beach/San Pedro? It was the first time I felt like I paid to be in a prison.

Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean are two great cruise lines. Royal Caribbean is a little more kid-friendly, meaning they have a lot of fun amenities on the ship, while Princess is a little more formal. Both cruise lines have great food and entertainment though.

I would recommend a 5-7 day cruise for a first timer. Long enough to see if you enjoy it but not too long if you don’t. If you want more informative or help, DM me.

3

u/NecessaryOk6815 Jul 01 '22

Thank you kind stranger. I'll do some research and come back to you when I have some questions.

I’d have to recommend an Alaskan cruise. Crowd tends to be a bit older and more mature with a more laid back atmosphere, and the views are breathtaking. I just got off a week long cruise on the Norwegian Encore and couldn’t recommend it enough. Princess is another good one that’s a little more classy.

We took a Viking river cruise down the Rhine. The excursions were fantastic. I did a 25-mile bike tour in the Black Forest while my husband saw the WWII museum in Colmar. I also did a walking food tour in Strasbourg.

The ship was elegant, the meals were fantastic, and the crew was very attentive. There's no casino, no bingo, no swimming pool, and kids under 16 are not allowed. We met some very interesting people and had memorable conversations.

One day we had to double-dock with another cruise ship, requiring us to cross over the deck of the other ship to get to ours. The other ship had people yukking it up in a hot tub and a life-size chess set. Not our thing at all.

The cruise was very expensive from our point of view, but we plan to do it again as soon as we can afford it. Worth every penny.

I loved the river cruise, but they also do ocean cruises with the same vibe and much smaller ships than the average cruise line.

23

u/farewelltokings2 Jul 01 '22

Honestly I’d still take that. Especially for free. You can still stay away from the trash. They’re huge ships. I know lots of people who have taken Carnival Cruises and they were fine. Wal-Mart-ish crowd but they enjoyed it.

7

u/Mr_Doug_Dimmadome Jul 01 '22 edited Jul 01 '22

There's nothing wrong with Carnival, despite having a reputation as a party ship (which may be partially true on the 2-3 day cruises), my experience with carnival is that it is actually pretty tame, or even family oriented. Not laid back by any means, but good fun.

What you see here is just a gathering of trashy people, you really can't do anything avoid them without being a shut in, or being a closed off rich person.

7

u/voodoosanteria Jul 01 '22

I get those free offers all the time from my casino cards. I usually take them up on it at 2/3 times a year. It’s really not bad at all, it’s a free vacation and the foods good. I’d still say go for it!

5

u/server_busy Jul 01 '22 edited Jul 01 '22

Yep, they're bottom tier. Princess is better. Most of the guests on board have the bulk of their teeth and probably a job

5

u/Rozeline Jul 01 '22

I've been on a couple carnival cruises. They're relatively cheap, but poor people need a vacation too you know. All of my cruises were pleasant and nothing like this happened that I could see. The food was also really good and the comedy club had this signature mixed drink that I really really liked. I'd definitely like to go on another cruise.
