“Someone”

13

u/LongDongFrazier 2 Nov 24 '22

You either think this is too far or you are a blossoming HOA president asshole. Weird reality check for you.

27

u/Strazdas1 9 Nov 23 '22

This isnt justice. Him getting a fine for parking illegally would be justice. This is vandalism.

8

u/PrintAllTheThingsUSA 0 Nov 23 '22 edited Nov 23 '22

Of course, some weak little beta would be the one to post this coward stuff with the caption "tee hee"... and the person that did it is an even bigger coward. Walk a few feet around it or call and have it towed. Or, as crazy as it sounds, be an adult and knock on the door and actually speak to another human. Bunch of clowns.

-1

u/beatlepus 6 Nov 22 '22

Fuck Musk's stupidity.Fuck this kind of vandalism.

8

u/Demori2052 6 Nov 27 '22

Damn Vandalizers, can't fucking park on the sidewalk anywhere anymore!

24

u/raniumPU-36 1 Nov 22 '22

Weak ass passive aggressive retaliation. The crime doesn't fit the punishment. Whoever did that doesn't have the cockles to knock on his neighbors door and ask him to move it.

2

u/Erickdeviking 8 Nov 22 '22

Not gonna lie.

Looks dope.

14

u/fauxfox__ 3 Nov 22 '22

I'm guessing this is upvoted because Teslas are expensive.

22

u/PageFault A Nov 22 '22

Too far.

8

u/dirty-hurdy-gurdy 9 Nov 22 '22

At first I was like, yeah, probably could have just called to have it towed, then I had this chain of thoughts. They drive a Tesla, so the only thing they'll lose with a tow is time, because they've got enough money that the towing fee will be chump change. So, yet again, a situation where monetary penalties only make it a crime for poor people. So how to really hurt their wallet? Fuck up their car. Now it's time to get it removed, plus it might actually have the effect that a $200 fine might have on ordinary people.

1

u/Strazdas1 9 Nov 23 '22

And you think loosing time is not important?

Commiting a crime because someone else did does not make you any less a crimimnal.

4

u/PageFault A Nov 22 '22

I'm not quite following you here. So instead of losing time and money getting it taken back, they should lose time and money getting it repaired?

If you want steeper parking penalties, that's a much larger problem than this one car, and it should be taken up with the city. I would be all for graduated parking fines and even jail time for extreme habitual offenders.

What I'm not for, is vigilante justice.

4

u/MisfitMishap 8 Nov 22 '22

Norway does a 10% of your income fine for speeding tickets I believe. Make 30,000 / year? Your fine is 3K. Make 1Mil / year? 100K fine.

I could be wrong, but Jeremy Clarkson and the boys were terrified of speeding in Norway.

4

u/dirty-hurdy-gurdy 9 Nov 22 '22

What I'm not for, is vigilante justice.

So are you for the form of justice that doesn't apply to the rich and powerful then?

Monetary penalties in general only make things illegal for poor people. If you can afford a $100,000 car, you can easily afford the $200 or so to get your car out of the towing yard, and it'll take an hour or so tops. No lesson learned. The time and money to fix the paint job is easily an order of magnitude higher.

Yeah, the city should figure out how to make something like this more punitive, but again, whatever penalty they enact will almost certainly affect poor people more than rich people. And being the bureaucratic hellscape that is local government, any change won't happen in the near future, if ever.

While your suggestion to sit around and wait for a bickering political entity to debate endlessly debate the merits of parking fine reform is noble, throwing a bucket of paint at their car is far more immediate and satisfying. And as an added bonus, it totally removes the inherently classist legal system from the equation.

2

u/Few-Machine-3768 1 Nov 22 '22

That's not a $100,000 car.

5

u/PageFault A Nov 22 '22

So are you for the form of justice that doesn't apply to the rich and powerful then?

No. Please take the time to read it again. Paint on a car won't bother the truly rich and powerful either. I'm pretty sure I mentioned graduated fines and even jail time in there. I know it's hard. It's 5 whole sentences, but you can do it. I believe in you.

Immediate and satisfying is shooting anyone who stands in your way. I don't care about immediate and satisfying. I care about justice. Tough concept I know.

40

u/tspyryl 3 Nov 22 '22

A bunch of shit ppl here for upvoting this

17

u/codysattva 7 Nov 22 '22

Took way to long scrolling comments to find another adult on here. This is not justice, this is r/pettyrevenge.

39

u/canihelpyoubreakthat 5 Nov 22 '22

You suck OP. Something is wrong with you if you consider this justice. You make the world a little worse, good job.

30

u/RedFlare15 6 Nov 22 '22

I had something like this in front of my house. I simply called the city and they towed it due to it being parked on the side walk. Lesson learned? The person has to jump through hoops to get his car back and the city has a record of this vehicle now.

Celebrating vandalism to someone’s vehicle as “justice”? I don’t agree with that shit. Downvoted.

11

u/TryHard15plus1 4 Nov 22 '22

You could have just called the city and had it ticketed and towed.... Two wrongs don't make a right.

3

u/orbcat 8 Nov 23 '22

they dont care about it in my city and wont do shit about it, i got threatened a couple weeks ago for taking pictures of someones car that was parked across the sidewalk and the city still doesnt do shit

2

u/beatlepus 6 Nov 22 '22

Which is the wrong and which the right?
[.....can wait...]

3

u/TryHard15plus1 4 Nov 23 '22

It's wrong to commit a crime just because another crime has already been committed. It is right to take legal action and report it to have the person who committed the crime punished.

19

u/rallyfanche2 7 Nov 22 '22

Not taking sides, but when you park like an asshole… never forget that there is always an even bigger asshole out there…

1

u/Strazdas1 9 Nov 23 '22

Ok lets escalate this further. When you throw paint at a car dont forget theres someone who will throw paint into your eyes.

1

u/AtlasCompleXtheProd 3 Nov 29 '22

I mean i guess lol

13

u/Fortifarse84 9 Nov 22 '22

Lets check comments to admire all the bright shiny halos on display.

1

u/Strazdas1 9 Nov 23 '22

Yeah, no need for a halo. I report on average 5 cars per day. They get fined. Justice is served. What i dont do is vandalize other people's property.

27

u/-_Illuminated_- 5 Nov 22 '22

Not taking any sides, but there's camera on it that record when people break it or damage the car

Just have it towed, the paint thing won't hold up in court

1

u/XXFFTT 6 Nov 22 '22

Wear a mask, dump paint on it, have it towed a couple hours later

92

u/Stealthy-J 8 Nov 22 '22

I might get some downvotes here but hundreds in property damage seems a bit overboard just for blocking the sidewalk. I get he's parked like an asshole but just walk around it, damn.

-7

u/DirtyWatah 0 Nov 22 '22

My cousin Daryl is 28 and wheelchair bound because of a selfish wrong way drunk driver. That guy ended up dying and condemning my cousin to life without his legs. We run an annual family thanksgiving basketball game and he hasn’t been able to participate for 2 years. Now he gets his exercise daily walking (rolling?) his dog. More selfish jerks constantly block the sidewalks near his parent’s house in Daly City (near San Francisco; very hilly, with some of the worst drivers). If this happens he has to go into the street to get around. I applaud the vandals. You’re an oxygen thief if you think it’s okay to block sidewalks.

6

u/PageFault A Nov 22 '22

It's not ok to block sidewalks, and it's also not ok to vandalize property. Tesla owner deserves to be towed and fined.

-1

u/DirtyWatah 0 Nov 23 '22

Something something about if the punishment for a crime is a fine, it is a punishment for only a certain class of citizen.

1

u/Strazdas1 9 Nov 23 '22

Something something you have no fucking clue how things work.

1

u/DirtyWatah 0 Nov 26 '22

Okay I’m down to hear how things really work. Care to explain how it’s okay for cars to block sidewalks? Sorry I guess I just don’t have a fucking clue how things work. Please enlighten me

1

u/Strazdas1 9 Nov 28 '22

Blocking sideways is not okay. Vandalizing them is not okay. Both acts are bad. They should both be dealth with legally.

1

u/tristen620 7 Nov 22 '22

I would rather hundreds of dollars of property damage then hundreds of dollars of ticket for blocking the sidewalk.

People in wheelchairs even if only part-time users have huge difficulty navigating the public there's some pretty unfriendly spaces out there.

Imagine having a bad day and going and using your chair to make it easier only to get stuck and have to go around like all the way back to the corner across the street go down the block and then cross the street again.

3

u/PageFault A Nov 22 '22

I would rather hundreds of dollars of property damage then hundreds of dollars of ticket for blocking the sidewalk.

Why? I'd take the ticket 100% of the time. Some of that is never coming out.

11

u/imforserious 7 Nov 22 '22

Watch out this is reddit. For all they are concerned they should have murdered the guy for "justice". Read the garbage fire comments on the trashy thread.

4

u/ThrowingChicken 9 Nov 22 '22

This was so common place in my old neighborhood, I didn’t even know it was an issue. Like so rampant I can’t imagine they ever even issued tickets for it.

1

u/doe3879 8 Nov 22 '22

Call the toll company and get it tolled, they love shit like this.

-4

u/kifarunegro 2 Nov 22 '22

5

u/sinkrate 7 Nov 22 '22

Hundreds? More like 10k+

3

u/designgoddess C Nov 22 '22

Depending on the paint it will come off.

1

u/Goolajones 9 Nov 22 '22

Walking around it teaches him to do it again.

14

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '22

Wheelchair? Strollers? Be damned

8

u/mk6dirty 7 Nov 22 '22

They still gonna pay for the damages so now they mad, broke, and not rolling anywhere lmao

8

u/designgoddess C Nov 22 '22

I knew someone who had red paint thrown on their fur coat. Protester was arrested, prosecuted, sentenced to jail, and had to pay for a new coat.

-3

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '22

Who?

12

u/i-wonder-why 6 Nov 22 '22

Totally warrants petty vigilante justice on a neighborhood side street.

I'm sure the person who vandalized this was totally wheelchair bound, right?

Both these people are douches.

5

u/BrewingTeaFromSocks 2 Nov 22 '22

Yes, true. But red paint won't help them either.

29

u/SQUIDY-P 8 Nov 22 '22

So, where's the justice served for the vandal? Despicable hypocrisy.

-2

u/Dependent_Night1428 0 Nov 22 '22

If he'd done this before and already been warned, he deserve it.

1

u/Strazdas1 9 Nov 23 '22

No he does not.

5

u/canihelpyoubreakthat 5 Nov 22 '22

That's a lot of assumptions you're making.

4

u/Pigsareit 5 Nov 22 '22

To be fair, yes, in that context, it would be fine. But we have no context in this picture. If we just assume the worst, then sure we could justify anything. But we can't assume the worst, we'd turn into an angry mob. It would be unfair.

For all we know there could be a perfectly justified reason for parking in the sidewalk. Maybe this was a guest to a Thanksgiving party, maybe there were no more spots in the driveway, nor on the road. This could have been the very first time this has ever happened. Would it be justified then to throw paint on this random person's car? No it wouldn't be. But we don't know if that's the context.

-6

u/lazy-dude 7 Nov 22 '22

I’m sure someone in this post will think again about parking like an idiot next time in their Tesla, Mercedes, BMW, etc.

-5

Tesla driver is an asshole but if your first thought/action is vandalism.. you’re scum

5

u/lazy-dude 7 Nov 22 '22

How am I scum? I just pointed out “I’ve seen worst”

2

33

u/Ruepic 6 Nov 22 '22

Tesla’s an asshole for blocking sidewalk, whoever vandalised the car is an asshole for damaging someone else’s property. It’s not worth it.

23

u/MS_125 6 Nov 22 '22

Wow, this is very uncool. Justice tends to be proportional to the crime, and this is obscenely extreme. I’m guessing paint thrower never thought of lifting a windshield wiper as a harmless protest for the car owner being a dick…?

Conservative Tesla hater? Bruh what year are you in

121

u/Its_rEd96 5 Nov 22 '22

Is this really justice served? Don't get me wrong, It's an asshole thing to stop on the sidewalk, but this - this is not justice served, this is vandalism. Leave a note on the windshield and call the police on this person, that is justice served.

14

u/spribyl 8 Nov 22 '22

Seriously, just get it towed. If it's damaged by the tow truck you wouldn't be blamed.

-10

u/Mr_Iron_Oxide 6 Nov 22 '22 Take My Energy

Can cops be relied upon for justice? Everything I read and see points to a resounding NO.

13

u/Lightor36 7 Nov 22 '22

So instead just do this to a car that has cameras all around it and have those very cops come pay you a visit? Seems silly and not worth it at all.

-3

u/lazy-dude 7 Nov 22 '22

I wouldn’t call the police for anything in my area.

19

u/ehsteve23 B Nov 22 '22

The rational part of my brain says yes, theis is vandalism dont do it.

The part of my brain that activates any time i see some twat who parks wherever they feel like says they should have done the roof too

12

u/bottlefullofROSE 6 Nov 22 '22

Downvoted the post and totally agree, have to assume way too much about the Tesla owner and the situation to infer justice!

-7

-6

The amount of Musk Suckers who came here to defend the Tesla: small dick energy at its finest.

7

u/canihelpyoubreakthat 5 Nov 22 '22

This has nothing to do with the tesla, but you thinking so is small brain energy at its finest.

7

u/ferrum_artifex 6 Nov 22 '22

Small dick energy is doing thousands of dollars of damage to a vehicle for the inconvenience of having to walk around it and being a coward about it.

13

u/mk6dirty 7 Nov 22 '22

are they defending tesla or just anti-vandalism.

Theres ways of gettin your point across that doesnt damage someone elses property.

39

u/Pigsareit 5 Nov 22 '22

This is the worst post and worst comment section I've ever seen. So many children who are like, just wash the paint off with some water. That's going to cost thousands of dollars to get repainted, and it didn't even solve the issue. You could have just gotten the car towed, but no you just wanted to make a mess? To what end?

And people are cheering like a angry mob for the destruction of other people's property?

This is really the worst comment section I have ever seen.

2

u/canihelpyoubreakthat 5 Nov 22 '22

I'm honestly shocked how clueless most of the commenter are on this car paint debacle. No way this reflects the general public opinion on what is justified. Redditors being redditors, but this has been a particularly shocking response. Disappointed with reddit right now.

-2

u/wespa167890 4 Nov 22 '22

But he will not park on the sidewalk again. Also it's not like it's an accident to park like this. Very easy to avoid i would think.

20

u/thedrizztman 9 Nov 22 '22

How do ANY of us know this car was just parked there for selfish reasons? We literally have ZERO context for this picture. Yet this thread feels perfectly comfortable assuming anything in order to justify their warped visions of reality so they can spew hatred and judgement.

14

u/CuriousComfortable63 2 Nov 22 '22

There are appropriate fines for parking like this. They most likely would not equate to the cost of repainting the car.

1

u/ehsteve23 B Nov 22 '22

Fines just mean it's legal for rich people

10

u/DeathByLemmings 9 Nov 22 '22

Wow bro, come up with that all by yourself did you?

-9

u/revotfel 7 Nov 22 '22

Found the salty boys lmao

-6

u/revotfel 7 Nov 22 '22

Doesn't need to be an original thought to be correct?

-18

u/Godphila 8 Nov 22 '22

Yeah you are right, the same could have been achieved by just scratching the hell out of the paintjob with a key or a screwdriver. Wasting an entire bucket of paint, soiling the enviroment just for a little public vandalism. So inefficent and wastefull.

62

u/Gidnik 8 Nov 22 '22

Not justice served…

-45

u/Slow_Hand27 0 Nov 22 '22

-12

u/captwaffles27 7 Nov 22 '22

Why would you say that

9

u/TheEmbiggenisor 5 Nov 22 '22

My driveway at home cuts across the footpath.

I have to tell just about everyone that comes to my house to either pull forward or pull back. Don’t park across the path. I can feel them rolling their eyes as they get back into their car and move it.

People are just plain ignorant!

5

u/mk6dirty 7 Nov 22 '22

sounds like a shitty neighboorhood design to block half of your parking area with a sidewalk.

5

u/sootoor 8 Nov 22 '22

Pretty sure these cars have cameras, so I guess enjoy the felony for the mildly infuriating inconvenience?

6

u/Gudspeed 3 Nov 22 '22

These cars most definitely have cameras. Though the vehicle needs to be in “sentry mode” to be actively looking and recording suspicious movement close to the car and such. For someone parking on a sidewalk in a city I could imagine they had sentry enabled, but also no way of knowing unless you can physically walk near the vehicle and trigger sentry, which is when you’ll see it pop up on the touchscreen on the dash. If this person does have sentry enabled you can most definitely bet that there is clear recording of the person that threw the paint with clear video of their face/where they approached the car from. Those cameras cover everything vividly around the car.

5

u/Jessicreep 7 Nov 22 '22

What may be a minor inconvenience for you may be extremely inconvenient or even impossible for someone else. I was at a red light and saw a caretaker struggle to get a woman in a wheelchair onto a corner curb that had broken concrete. She wasn’t able to do it and they had to walk in the street, in downtown SF.

1

u/designgoddess C Nov 22 '22

Did you get out and help them?

1

u/Jessicreep 7 Nov 22 '22

I wasnt driving, I was across the road with a ton of people everywhere because the drag show we saw ended. I wanted to but it was a red light for us and honestly my social anxiety freezes me in situations where I’d be drawing attention (running across the street to help). I think bystander effect kicked in for a lot of people because there were people on that corner as it happened

2

u/i_smoke_toenails 7 Nov 22 '22

This violates due process. If vigilantes could roam the streets with impunity, causing disproportionately expensive damage every time they see a bylaw violation, it would be chaos.

Yes, this driver was pretty thoughtless. Doesn't justify the vandalism. This isn't justice served. It's a crime of revenge.

-7

u/gabbagabba777 7 Nov 22 '22

It's called karma.

3

u/Jessicreep 7 Nov 22 '22

I didn’t say it’s justified. I think calling it an inconvenience is an understatement and dismissive of those with disabilities.

10

u/i_smoke_toenails 7 Nov 22 '22

I agree with you. This is still not justice, though.

4

u/sootoor 8 Nov 22 '22

Where did I say minor?

I understand how it works and people do this but I’m not sure how vandalism solved this issue at all.

You have obviously never spent part or all of your life in a wheelchair. It is not a minor inconvenience, it can be a life or death issue and the reason someone can't get where they need to go. People need to not park like fucking assholes!

Lmfao yes someone is going to explode into flames if they don't use the sidewalk. I've walked/biked around countless cars on the sidewalk never thought "Better ruin this persons day, upset them and cost them thousands"

This made the vandal and only the vandal happy by bringing someone else down. You aren't going to solve problems by creating bigger problems. I hope the tesla owner had their cameras rolling and get some justice.

Circular logic....lol

Maybe get rid of the broken down car in the driveway, and if the pregnant woman or disabled person has the "second vehicle" maybe the owner of the first vehicle should park on the street thus leaving the driveway for the person that needs it the most.

You truly are tone deaf...

I am done playing a game of hypotheticals with someone that has no interest in an actual discussion.

At least you don't have to listen to your own bullshit

Coming from the guy with strawman arguments about why people cant use the property they pay for.

I've been alive for 30 years and live in the 3rd most populated state in the US and never once seen a random wheelchair bound person cruise down the sidewalk. Maybe where you come from but not in my area. My current street doesn't even have sidewalks so what do you have to say about that?

Vandalism and jealousy, not justice.

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '22

Gets repercussions for parking like a duck

“They’re just jealous “

2

u/designgoddess C Nov 22 '22

People are jealous of expensive cars.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '22

Mode 3’s are expensive now, overpriced for sure

0

u/ehsteve23 B Nov 22 '22

Jealous of their cool parking skills?

1

u/designgoddess C Nov 22 '22

People know they’re expensive cars and can be jealous of that.

Pretty sure those who need walking assistance (wheelchairs, canes...) will agree it's justice.

1

u/Strazdas1 9 Nov 23 '22

No they wont. Because they arent vandal scum.

I’m one of those people. Justice would be having it towed and the sidewalk cleared. The paint helps me in no way.

6

u/Ruepic 6 Nov 22 '22

If you were blind you’d now have your path blocks PLUS red paint all over you, yay justice. Fr someone should have called a tow truck instead of just throwing red paint on it.

u/GunpowderLad 9 Nov 22 '22

The paint is a heathy lesson for the dickbag car owner. Doesn’t solve the problem now but very likely prevents it happening in the future.

u/mk6dirty 7 Nov 22 '22

lol a healthy lesson of the vandals wallet when they have to pay to have that tesla detailed and ceramic coated lol.

15

u/designgoddess C Nov 22 '22

I want it solved now not maybe in the future. Also assumes owner knows why someone threw paint. Plenty of idiots who get mad at electric cars and they might think that was the reason.

You seem like a mentally stable person. Thank you for your actual input.

u/Desperate-Fix-9930 9 Nov 22 '22

Nothing to be jealous of there

6

u/Qwerty_Kitty 6 Nov 22 '22

Jealous that they took over a public walkway to park a chunk of junk.

u/razordreamz 8 Nov 22 '22

Harsh, too harsh.
